Learn about the power of voice, song and rhythm

New and experienced Early Childhood Educators and Family Resource Program Facilitators will learn about the power of voice, song and rhythm and its uses in early learning programs.

Participants will learn simple vocal exercises and stretches to warm up in preparation for using songs, as well as, learn how to make use of and teach the value of rhythm to parents for use with their infants and young children. There will be information provided on the role music and song play in attachment and early literacy and participants will learn new songs to add to their repertoire. Participants will also have an opportunity to talk about challenges and ideas around the use of song in early learning programs.

About the Facilitator

Dawn Zoe Simpson is an Early Childhood Educator, Family Resource Program Facilitator and Parent-Child Mother Goose Facilitator. Her vocal learning has included working with David Smukler (Canada’s National Voice Intensive) and Richard Armstrong. A lifelong learner with a background in classical piano, Dawn Zoe enjoys playing accordion, composing and improvising music. She leads a "Rhythm & Rhyme" program she designed for families with young children. She strongly believes in the power of song to connect and build community.

Please note that this workshop is not guaranteed to run. We need a minimum number of people enrolled in order to be able to run it.
