Supporting Children and Youth Impacted by Domestic Violence
In this workshop, participants will gain insight into the impact of domestic violence on children and youth, and how to support children through it.
Understanding the impact of violence on attachment, cycle of abuse, signs to look for and emotional regulation strategies for children and youth will be explored. We will discuss how staff are able to support children within the parameters of their roles as well as their own comfort levels.
Facilitator
Frances Soon, MA, RCC, is an adult, child and family therapist at Family Services of Greater Vancouver, and Coordinator of the Children Affected by Family Violence Program. She is a registered clinical counsellor with over 11 years experience, and works with clients who have experienced trauma such as domestic violence, neglect, attachment injury and loss. She is passionate about supporting clients to heal and feel empowered.
