Learn strategies for engaging and supporting Indigenous fathers in programs and services

In this interactive, two-day workshop participants will gain insight into historical issues facing Indigenous Fathers and how they are re-discovering their roles and responsibilities. Successful models for developing culturally grounded programs to support Indigenous Dads and how to build meaningful relationships with them will be presented.

About the Facilitators 

Brenden Moore is the Aboriginal Fathers Engagement Coordinator from Kelowna, BC. He is also a proud Dene and a father of four young children with his Okanagan wife. He has been in his position for four years and runs a successful program, which is a shared position between Westbank First Nation & Metis Community Services. He's a well sought after speaker and facilitator because of his passion for helping Aboriginal fathers thrive and keep their families together.
 
Tim Manuel carries the traditional Sylix name of Petkwumen which means “big nail.” He is from the Spaxomin (Douglas Lake) community and served ten years on Band Council and five years as Chief of Upper Nicola Band, from 1996 to 2011. Tim went on to teach Nlakampux and Syilx cultures throughout School District #58 for five years, from 2011-2016. Tim was the Community Engagement lead/ Cultural advisor for Reconciliation Canada until March 2019 and sits on the Board of the kwukeknxtwixw Wellness Society.
