Resilience is not just a buzzword. It’s an actionable process that can help you to manage stress and adversity.
The past couple of years have been challenging for the workforce, especially for teachers and school staff. According to a 2021 report from the Human Early Learning Partnership, 80% of teachers reported that their mental health had “slightly” or “significantly” worsened since March 2020. The well-being of all school staff has been affected negatively due to the pandemic. With that in mind, the goal of the “Building Resilience for Work/Life” workshop is to provide a solid foundation for all staff who work in schools to start an intentional resilience journey that can change their lives for the better.
This one-day workshop for school staff is based on the R2 Resilience© framework and its 52 evidence-informed protective factors that can improve personal resilience. Participants will also take a deeper dive into key protective factors: empathy, gratitude, hope and optimism. Through guided learning, individual exercises, on-line interaction, and small group exchanges, staff will develop useful knowledge, skills and attitudes that can help improve resilience.
At the completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify protective factors that can be used to improve resilience
- List personal strengths and areas for improvement
- Explain how empathy, gratitude, hope and optimism strengthen resilience
- Apply different strategies to help improve resilience
